SMOG MARINES Opus

Previously unreleased 1980 LP from Silver Lake, Los Angeles' punks who were known as Opus (see their fearsomely-rare 1979 7"). After the 7" and a handful of live shows, to reflect a sharper alignment with the Los Angeles' punk scene, the decidedly Prog- sounding 'Opus' moniker was jettisioned in favour of Smog Marines.

Militant in tone and rooted in the literal toxicity of L.A., the band entered Mystic Studios for a series of recording sessions that yielded material for a full-length album, 7" and demos. Having sat gathering dust for 46 years, transferred direct from the original 2-inch analog master tapes, Opus features the stark gritty photographs of Edward Colver and a rare band photograph from Daniel Villarreal
