COLD WAR Illusion, The Complete Studio Sessions
£18.00
Cold War emerged in Essex and existed for a brief (1981-83) period which took in the now-rare "Machinist" 7" and plenty of gigs in the London area, including the Wapping Autonomy Centre. Occupying both anarcho and post punk territories, their sound was a jagged, cutting and rhythmic one combining (in retrospect) elements of The Fall, Killing Joke, Gang Of Four and Wire. All teenagers at the time, on splitting two members went onto join Hagar The Womb. Four sessions at a small Clapham studio during 1982-3 bequeath us this fine document, 11 tracks remastered from original tapes plus a nice 20 page A4 zine complete with old flyers, photos and zine interviews from the time
