The spiritual successor of punk tabloid Slash magazine, No Mag covered the California punk scene into its adulthood. According to founder Bruce Kalberg it aspired to be “the most evil, nihilistic magazine ever,” and its tone even more outlandish than Slash. Started in 1978 by Kalberg and Michael Gira (later of the Swans), NO MAG produced 14 issues before 1985, all in this large tabloid format, and was noted for it's transgressive photography, all of it from the Los Angeles -Hollywood punk/hc/art scene

Issue 10 from 1983, NM- condition, some age/storage wear but stored flat, the theme this issue was L.A. Girls (fashion & filth), though I would call this anti-fashion, to quote latter co-editor Ewa Wojciak: “No Magazine was a full-time art project. It was news the way we wanted to see and hear it. Bruce worked on the magazine 24 hours a day, often falling asleep at his desk then waking up and continuing. We tried to pair people in unexpected ways, shoot photos in odd places and show people in ways that they were not usually see. Every night there was somewhere to go and we tried to go there. I think that No Mag has held up over time because we managed to capture the energy and creative spirit that surrounded us

44 pages, tabloid (14 x 11 inches roughly) newsprint. Contents: obituary for photographer Jules Bates, Ed Cover, Saccharine Trust, interviews w Tina of Voodoo Church, Kat of Legal Weapon and Michelle of Twisted Roots, The Vandals, Social Distortion, Savage Republic, some choice record reviews by El Duce/The Mentors, Hari Kari plus some great art
